Hello! My name’s Nick.
I’m an undergraduate student pursuing a Joint BA of History from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and the College of William and Mary, USA. I am originally from Northern California, and I grew up ski racing in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I found my love of storytelling within those mountains, in the warm winter lodges where my family and friends used to gather in the evenings to laugh and tell tales. There were the funny ones, the scary ones, the don’t-repeat-this-at-school ones, and all those in between.
My historical interests mirror my love for storytelling and adventure: I am currently working around social histories of myth-making and myth-formation, with a highlight on maritime spatial histories. With thanks to exceptional mentors and challenging coursework, I am growing as a writer and researcher and expanding my abilities of research-based analysis as it relates to responsible, compelling work.
I love collaborative world-building and narrative creation, and it is my hope to pursue these passions in a professional creative space with teammates who inspire me to create incredible stories together.
Writing
The midnight sun and a wafting scent of death and sweetness. A peer-reviewed, published essay on the formation of the Anglo-Caribbean pirate myth, rooted in the work of Englishman Daniel Defoe. Whether it be a story world or a research paper, my written work is at the core of how I express myself and shape my ideas.
